1. Who is the data controller

The data controller is BELAVIN LIMITED (company number 16735157), trading as GuruCarCheck, registered in England & Wales (company number 16735157; registered office listed on the public Companies House register). For any privacy question, contact us at info@gurucarcheck.co.uk.

2. What we collect

  • Vehicle registration marks (VRMs) you enter to run a check.
  • Contact details — your name and email address when you buy a report or contact us.
  • Payment information — processed securely by our payment provider; we do not store full card details.
  • Usage data — technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

3. How and why we use your data

  • To provide your report — running the check, generating the report and emailing it to you. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • To take payment — processing your purchase. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • To respond to enquiries — dealing with messages you send us. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
  • To operate and improve the Service — security, analytics and fraud prevention. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.

4. Who we share data with

We use trusted service providers (processors) who act on our instructions, including:

  • Our vehicle-data providers, to return the records for your check;
  • Our payment processor (Stripe), to take payment securely;
  • Our email provider (Resend), to deliver your report and replies;
  • Our hosting provider (Netlify), to run the website.

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by law.

5. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.

6. How long we keep it

We keep purchase and report records for as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet legal, accounting and tax obligations, and then delete or anonymise them. Enquiry messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your query.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies to run the site and may use analytics cookies to understand how it is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

If you have a concern about how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page.

Note: This is a general template. Before going live it should be reviewed and completed with the registered office address, confirmed processor list and, if required, the company's ICO registration. As a controller processing personal data, BELAVIN LIMITED may need to register with the ICO and pay the data protection fee.
